I created this vintage-inspired Thanksgiving ornament from lots of thrifted items, such as the embroidery hoop and the bias tape.
I used the print-on-fabric trick (I used this tutorial from instructables), with an image of vintage sheet music from The Graphics Fairy. I just saved the image to my computer, and set it to print two small ones.
I very lightly brushed on some glitter paint. The top one had a purple tint to it, while the bottom one was mainly flecks of gold.
Now for the ruffled bias tape. I set up my ruffle foot and inserted the bias tape, following the instructions. My ruffle foot came in a kit specifically for my machine, but this rufle foot on Amazon might work for your machine. And see lots of pleat and ruffle tutorials on see kate sew!
Finished ruffle. There were about three ruffles per inch, and four yards of straight bias tape turned into three yards of ruffled.
All done. The embroidery hoop is about 5 inches wide. You could do this with all sizes, or make a whole bunch of little ones into a garland or wreath. Hope you’re having a great time with all your holiday crafts!
