My girls will be turning 7 this month! We are planning on an art-themed party with cupcake decorating to celebrate their birthday (which we’ve been calling “Cupcakes and Canvas”). I’ve been planning and shopping for a few weeks now, and this past weekend, we did a little “rehearsal” to see if we need anything else and to tweak our set-up. So far, we have lots of sprinkles, candy, and frosting for the cupcakes, washable paints for the canvases, and plenty of Wet-Nap wipes for easy clean-up. For our little party rehearsal, I set up a small cupcake bar with two types of unfrosted cupcakes. We will probably serve a third (lemon or vanilla) on party day. Also on the bar are the toppings on a wooden paint palette. The candies are in individual bowls (will probably have little spoons in each bowl), and the sprinkles I kept in their shakers. I put the frosting in piping bags. We are also going to provide Wet Nap wipes near the cupcake bar, because frosting+kids=mess! The girls loved using the piping bags for the frosting, which I closed shut at the top with some fun paint-splattered decorative tape. But I think I will also have the sprinkles with spoons in little bowls as well, as they poured very quickly out of the shakers! Ok this mess wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be…but this times 20 kids might be a lot to deal with! Can you imagine herding 20 kids into the house to wash their hands for every little mess? The girls also had fun creating some cupcake paintings. I will be supplying washable paints, aprons, canvases, and an assortment of paint brushes for the kids to use. Plus more Wet-Nap wipes! Their artistic interpretations of a cupcake are very different from each other, at least they are today. Oops! No problem! Wipe wipe wipe. I’m sure there will be lots of wipes and cupcake wrappers to throw away, so I think I will set up little clean-up stations around the yard with a garbage bowl to hold everything. Their canvases will make a cute back drop for the cupcake bar on party day. It was great to try out the set-up so I know what I have left to do. Plus it was a fun way to spend the afternoon with my girls…who says we should only do this on special days? Messes are an everyday happening as well. Be sure to pick up some Wet-Nap products for your next messy moment. I got mine at Walmart along with lots of our cupcake bar and art supplies, where everything was very inexpensive. Here’s a coupon for 55 cents off your Wet-Nap purchase (while supplies last). Okay, off to do more prep for their party!
