I am often reading more than one book at once, whether it’s something fun for myself or my girls, or a craft book. So I have lots of bookmarks and this is one of my favorites. Bookmarks make a great gift for teachers or for those avid readers in your life. Here’s how I made my easy no-sew elastic bookmarks!

These swivel clasps with a chain were a more industrial look to balance out the frilliness of the elastic. To determine how much elastic you’ll need, place the swivel clasp onto a book, then wrap the elastic around it, starting and ending at the clasp ends. Add an inch to either end, and trim.
Wrap each end of the elastic around each loop in the clasp, leaving a 1-inch tail. Apply hot glue to the elastic and fold over the tail, pressing down carefully on the hot glue. Add a thin line of anti-fraying glue to the raw ends of the elastic.
You could finish right here, as it looks really cute already. But you can also embellish your bookmarks further.
I made a tassel for each of my bookmarks and hung them on the clasp with a jump ring, which I slipped through the top loop of the tassel.
Now I’m all done! And now you know why they’re called easy no-sew elastic bookmarks. In just five minutes, you have a gift for yourself, teachers, or your favorite reader. Package them by wrapping one over a new book, or create a card with a gift card attached to a book store and wrap the bookmark around it.
More bookmarks! Yes, I have an obsession.
