Stenciling and embroidering fabric is so fun and what results is fabric with different textures. You have the glossy, raised embroidery floss and the matte, flatness of the paint, to give you lots of visual interest. And of course, there’s lots of color combo possibilities! Here’s how I made my Stenciled Embroidered Pillow.
Stenciled Embroidered Pillow
Supplies (contains affiliate links)
- Pillow cover and pillow form
- Arrow Stencil
- Fabric craft paint (or regular craft paint mixed with fabric medium)
- Painters tape
- Foam brushes
- Embroidery floss, hoop, and needle
Prewash and dry the pillow cover and iron it. Then, center the stencil on it and tape to secure. My stencil is 12×12 inches so it works great with my 14×14 inch pillow cover.
Now just paint random colors with your paints!
Once dry, place the pillow inside an embroidery hoop and begin stitching. I did random stitches all over with random colors. Sometimes I outlined the arrow shapes and sometimes I stitched within the shapes.
Then insert your pillow form. All done!
My Stenciled Embroidered Pillow was one of my favorite projects that I previously posted on The Kim Six Fix blog! It was so relaxing and fun to paint and stitch up this pillow.
