Our home is a 1960’s rancher, so I love mid-century design. Not everything in our home is mid-century, but I love adding touches here in there in our decor. I found an IKEA PISO clock at the thrift store and loved the lines of it so it was the perfect blank canvas to for some grooviness. Here is my Mid-Century Inspired Clock Makeover.

Here’s my clock, before. I removed the back and removed the clock face from the frame. Then I carefully removed the hands. Set them aside for now.
My clock face is just under 8.5 inches wide so I was able to use a regular piece of white cardstock. First I sprayed the white cardstock with two colors of the Colorbox Spritzers, from two different angles. Make sure you protect your work surface! Allow to dry.
Once dry, I took my clock face and traced around it. I didn’t cut out the shape just yet.
Then I took my stencil and placed it in a corner, inside of my tracing line. I stenciled it with a bright yellow Colorbox stamp pad.
Then in the opposite corner, I stenciled just two rows of my design in a sage green color.
Once the stamp ink dried. I used my Smooches Bottle ink to brush on some metallic copper details to the stencil design. It dries into a pretty bright metallic which I loved.
Then I cut out my traced shape and ran it through my Xyron Creative Station with a 9-inch Repositionable Adhesive Cartridge (repositionable because I might want to switch out the design/color palette with the seasons, so all I would have to do is peel it off).
Then I popped it back into the clock.
All that’s left to do is put the clock together. All finished with my Mid-Century Inspired Clock Makeover!
Lookin’ super retro and funkelicious on another mid-century inspired piece, my stenciled coffee table, coming soon! Anyways, my clock reminds me of mid-century wall paper or dishes. I love the paint splatters in the background which gives it some texture as well.
I truly love my Clearsnap products (you’ve seen me use their Cats Eye stamps a million times) and of course, I love my trusty Xyron adhesives.
