Lunar New Year is January 28, 2017 this year! Get ready to pass out lucky money to little ones you know and love with my Year of the Rooster Red Envelopes. As in previous years, I’m providing free printables and envelope templates to make square envelopes (to fit a folded bill) and long envelopes (to fit unfolded bills or checks).

The assembly process is similar for both the square and long envelopes. After you’ve printed everything out, cut out the graphics with scissors or a paper trimmer, then add adhesive to the back. I used my trusty Xyron Creative Station to apply my adhesive.
Cut out the red envelopes with scissors (or use your Cricut Explore…see below). Fold and adhere the graphic to the front of the envelope.
Apply glue stick or double-sided tape to close up the envelope.
I made heart stickers to seal the envelopes with a heart punch, gold glitter paper, and my Xyron 1.5-inch Create-A-Sticker.
You can also use your Cricut Explore to cut out the red envelope templates. Upload to Cricut Design Space and resize so the middle square of the envelope is 3.5 inches, and the long envelope rectangle in the middle is about 7 inches.
Add score lines and use your Cricut Explore scoring stylus to make folding much easier.
Feel free to use these graphics for other projects, like cards or banners.
Happy Year of the Rooster!
