Here’s an easy peasy way to make a piece of monogram wall art with a bit of sparkle and fun: my monogram wall art using studs on canvas along with some pretty metallic paint. Here’s the how-to.
Monogram Wall Art using Studs on Canvas
Supplies (contains affiliate links)
- Gray acrylic paint
- Gold metallic paint
- Paint brushes
- Vinyl letter (paper with adhesive on the back would work too)
- Square studs
- Round studs
Paint a canvas (mine is 9×12 inches) with a background color. I chose gray and I just brushed it back and forth onto the canvas so the brush strokes are visible on the sides, as is the white canvas. Allow to dry.
Then adhere your vinyl or paper letter (mine is about 7.5 inches tall and is Impact font) and center it on the canvas. Paint over it with metallic paint, allowing your background paint to show around the edges. Carefully peel off your letter and allow to dry.
Now the fun part – adding the studs. Poke the studs through the canvas with your thumb (maybe put a piece of fabric over your thumb to avoid soreness). I added the square ones and round ones in a random pattern, allowing some of the paint behind to show through. I followed the curve of the letter along the inside and outside edges, and put some in the center as well.
Flip over the canvas. You’ll see the stud prongs poking out the back. Using pliers, bend the prongs inward to secure them (see arrow below). Do this while you binge on a show as it may take a little while!
All finished. Love how my monogram wall art turned out and how nice it looks with my big brass store-bought S and my earth-colored piggies.
